Purpose:
Generally,
this therapy may be performed by an endodontist when the inner soft pulp
becomes infected or injured. Thus, the crown of the tooth can remain intact
even if the pulp is dead. However, the dentist will remove an affected tissue
to preserve the structure of the dentin. There are some common causes of damage
to the pulp include;

Symptoms:
The
most common symptoms of damaged soft tissue include pain in dentin and other

- Serious pain
while chewing and biting.
- Reddish
spots on the gum line.
- Swollen or
tender jaws.
- Darkening of
the enamel.
- Prolonged
sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures.
Procedures:
A
root canal is performed in the dental office by an endodontist or dental

Anesthesia- An oral practitioner will take
a small amount of numbing medication near the affected place on a gum. Later, a
pinch of local anesthesia will be injected into a person's jaws but they remain
awake during the process. However, sedation will ease the pain and provide
comfort to a patient.
Removing pulp & filling- An endodontist will make a small opening to detach the inflamed pulp. Once the damaged tissue is removed then the dentist coats an area with antibiotics and gently fills it with sealants which help to prevent future damage.Therefore, just as the rest of a tooth depends on good oral hygiene and also it will restore the damage as well as treated dentin for a long time.
